Off of the central coast of New Jersey in Ocean County, the 18-mile long Long Beach Island runs north-south and ranges from a few blocks to a mile wide. In between are beaches and parks offering places to swim, fish, play and picnic. The island's main street is Long Beach Blvd., except in Beach Haven where the same street is called Bay Avenue. Students in grades K-5 attend schools of the Long Beach Island School District, and those in grades 6-12 attend schools of the Southern Regional School District. Several colleges and universities are in proximity for those who wish to attain a degree in higher education.
